I've spent $40,000 on shoes and I have no place to live? I will literally be the old woman who lived in her shoes!

A story I was told tonight by my cousin. She had to do a fitting of a wedding dress then we were going to go out. She was waiting for the bride to come over, and she was late. When she finally got to her house, she found out that the bride was in a car accident. the car got totally mangled apparently, but the bride didn't hurt anything but a finger...her ring finger somehow got hurt and is all swelled up... the wedding is this weekend... kara? fate? or bad freaking luck?

Gatsby's wonder when he first picked out the green light at the end of Daisy's dock, his dream must have seemed so close that he could hardly fail to grasp it. He did not know that it was already behind him.

Ain't nothing out here but me, the road, and the radio
Lookin' for an exit, and a song that I might know
Countin' down the memories, addin' up the miles
Searching for a feeling, that I ain't felt in a while.

- Kenny Chesney, "The Road and the Radio"

Thoreau writes: There is a solid bottom everywhere. We read that the traveller asked the boy if the swamp before him had a hard bottom. The boy replied that it had. But presently the traveller's horse sank in up to the girths,and he observed to the boy, "I thought you said that this bog had a hard bottom." "So it has," answered the latter, "but you have not got half way to it yet." So it is with the bogs and quicksands of society; but he is an old boy that knows it.

- Thoreau/quoted by Dead Like Me

Science, or para-science, tells us that geraniums bloom better if they are spoken to. But a kind word every now and then is really quite enough. Too much attention, like too much feeding, and weeding and hoeing, inhibits and embarrasses them.

- Victoria Glendinning

Under the green hedges, after the snow,
There do the dear little violets grow;
Hiding their modest and beautiful heads
Under the hawthorn in soft mossy beds.

Sweet as the roses and blue as the sky,
Down there do the dear little violets lie;
Hiding their heads where they scarce may be seen,
By the leaves you may know where the violet hath been.

- John Moultrie, Violets

Flowers have spoken to me more than I can tell in written words. They are the hieroglyphics of angels, loved by all men for the beauty of their character, though few can decipher even fragments of their meaning.

Beginning today, treat everyone you meet as if they were going to be dead by midnight. Extend to them all the care, kindness and understanding you can muster, and do it with no thought of any reward. Your life will never be the same again.

Passion, it lies in all of us, sleeping... waiting... and though unwanted... unbidden... it will stir... open its jaws and howl. It speaks to us... guides us... passion rules us all, and we obey. What other choice do we have? Passion is the source of our finest moments. The joy of love... the clarity of hatred... and the ecstasy of grief. It hurts sometimes more than we can bear. If we could live without passion maybe we'd know some kind of peace... but we would be hollow... Empty rooms shuttered and dank. Without passion we'd be truly dead.

- Joss Whedon

Livin on love, buyin on time
Without somebody nothing aint worth a dime
Just like an old fashioned story book rhyme
Livin on love
It sounds simple thats what you're thinkin'
But love can walk through fire without blinkin'
It doesnt take much when you get enough
Livin' on love.

- Alan Jackson, "Livin' On Love"

For working professionals in the photography industry, a pen represents the ability to control images in a way that’s at the very heart of the promise of digital imaging. Working on a pen tablet or directly on screen with an interactive pen display is simply the most natural way to retouch photos, and it allows you to produce results in less time.
